hi everybody I’ve got Natty our sweet little girl in the barn today she’s a yearling Clydesdale Philly and um last year she was just so well behaved and so easy to work with but she’s the beta in the herd meaning she is the most uh least dominant and she gets picked on a lot because she doesn’t fit in with the others I always like to say I don’t like to say it but I’ve always said that horses and cows come on in M where you can see your better uh horses and cows can be a little bit racist so she’s
doesn’t look like the others so they kind of ostracize her and that her Dynamic has made her a little less friendly and a little bit more timid so we brought her in also she’s she’s uh trying to grow vertically and lengthwise so she’s having a hard time keeping weight on when everybody else is doing just fine in the pasture so we brought her in we’re giving her equin June u f grow supplement uh stomach and hoof supplement um probiotics pure alphaalpha and grass hay now so she’s going to uh be able to maintain her rapid growth
rate that she’s wanting to do and get a little chubbier um she’s also got these things that look like bites on her but it’s actually like dry skin like dandruff so tomorrow is going to be 58 degrees be the warmest day this winter we’ve got hot water hooked up for for a hose spet we’re going to do a medicated shampoo bath and see if we can’t help that out a little bit um but right now I’m just going to get a little session with her where I get control of her feet because if like the good trainers say if
you get control of their fre feet you get control of their uh mind and also I have a secret weapon in my pocket show you whole bunch of cinnamon apple treats I’m just going to be real friendly with her today and try to start working with her walk babe walk good girl since we got Natty with her being so young she’s never been worked in the round pin before so she’s a little confused and unsure at first but she’s smart and she’ll catch on quick good it’s a fancy little Trot would not be a very good one to
ride stop oh good girl come here come here oh stumbles aren’t nothing to worry about these lanky big cloud Hopper feet on a growing baby they’re just uncoordinated at this age is what it is good girl let’s go the other way okay now I want her to start picking up on my body cues go on get up good go on go on good soon as she got Forward Motion I released the pressure for those of you that don’t know nattie’s backstory uh she hasn’t been with us very long she came to us this past spring April 2024 and she was
about 11 months old uh when she came here so now she’s about 18 months old uh her birthday is July and Natty is a registered Clyde steale her whole story is here on our Channel you can go from the day we met her you can go back and watch those videos she’s going to be able to trot just like uh Beauty Oliver can’t Trot this fast look how fast she can try her and Beauty are going to be carriage horses Deluxe get up oh here oh is this better she’s starting to say it’s way better for be up there and be friends with you than it
is to be out there having to having to that’s better is it oh her got her first treat she likes that so now what I’m going to do is uh I’m just going to pick up all of her feet and if she moves I’ll send her again if she doesn’t move then she gets to rest watch out baby good girl stand there stand she looks like she’s GNA have good feet oh oh oh one more step and you’re getting in trouble good girl ah come on go on come on come on and for all you kind-hearted people I’m slapping the ground not her
butt get up come on get up yep get up good come here and uh with these slips that she’s doing I know I’m going to have somebody say why are you working her on concrete something about the videos in this lighting makes this dirt floor look like concrete to people it is not concrete it’s dirt um it gets packed pretty hard in the winter when it’s cold so good stand there baby stand you’re okay good girl oh you’re okay good no that stand stand still oh come on doesn’t take too many times of this and they learn to stand still unless ask
get up get up get up get up come here come here come here come here that’s a good girl oh stand oh stand still good girl good girl now don’t move don’t move that’s a good girl oh she keeps trying to take her attention off of me I don’t like that good girl can I have this foot come on get up a lot of you may be wondering why we didn’t have Natty up before this uh throughout the year but she has been in and out of the barn uh We’ve you know got her up before and then let her back out to the pasture she has her specific
buddies out in the pasture her and frine really love each other and then once we got darling Natty and frine buddied up with darling and you see those three together all the time they’re just quieter and softer uh they get along really good and even though Natty has had a harder time you know kind of finding her place in the herd it’s still been very important for her uh to be out there with other horses socializing so just so nobody thinks like it’s been exactly bad for her or something like that she needed to be around other
horses So eventually she’ll go back out with her buddies or uh we hope to get an area done where her and Beauty can stay together think them bully horses have been biting the lower parts of her legs it’s got her having a response that she’s not supposed to have good girl oh been getting bullied a little bit yeah that’s a positive thing now see oh that’s a good girl yeah yeah so now I’ll just give her a break and clean up the poop she dropped that’ll just give her a little mental break and she’ll learn that she
did something great or good then the only other thing I’m going to work on today is um maybe a little bit of flexing and yielding their hips so that I have more control over her feet and with a yearling you want to keep less than short 20 minutes tops and you know it’s better for their brains then then you put them in a stall and let them soak on it that keeps soaking in kind of oh hi you like me now she was getting hard to catch even and hard to lead and stuff which she was perfect last year so well just a little bit on a good
horse like her goes a long way doesn’t take long for them to come around okay back to work babe back to work okay so to yield the hips what I like to do is just walk up to them and not move them then change my energy and act like a predator and direct her so she has to read my cues get over get over get over good then stand up and stop that energy when she givs good girl again pet it pet it good girl we do the same on this other side walk up to it without moving it good girl then change get over get over get
over get over get over get over get over good girl good girl hey she remembers that okay then we she does something good like that kind of to reset by just letting her feet move a few times people like when I give them a treat we do this one for YouTube this is from YouTube and hady this is from YouTube there you go that’s from YouTube y next one we give you we’ll give you from patreon it’ll be from next one’s from patreon okay now tilt and release when she gives very good tilt oh very good she does that good on
the other side this lesson is over tilt that wasn’t too good tilt good oh good girl yeah okay that’s enough this is from patreon say hi to Bonnie Douglas and and Ernie and Vicky one little lesson and Natty is back to her old self and we just love this sweet girl we’ll try to do some more updates on natty in the next couple of weeks and we’re really hoping we can pop her out of this gangly yearling phase once and for all and really get the weight on her Natty really is a special girl she is a joy to be around
she’s just a sweetheart and such a gentle soul [Music]
