As Ruth Martin, Timmy’s nurturing mother on the classic TV series “Lassie,” Lockhart forged a deep bond with the eponymous collie, capturing the hearts of viewers from 1958 to 1964. Her subsequent role as Dr. Maureen Robinson, the resolute matriarch in “Lost in Space,” cemented her status as a television legend.

Lockhart’s extensive career has seen her appear in a plethora of TV series, including “Bewitched,” “Petticoat Junction,” “Magnum, P.I.,” “Step by Step,” and “Beverly Hills, 90210.” Her stage presence earned her a Tony Award in 1948 for Outstanding Performance by a Newcomer, and she has continued to work in film and television, with recent appearances in “Grey’s Anatomy” and “The Remake.”
